Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Jeanne Royar, age 96, and her beloved daughter, Allison Royar, age 63. These two extraordinary women shared an unbreakable bond in life. They passed peacefully within hours of each other—forever united in spirit, as they were in life.

Jeanne, born on July 8th, 1928 in Queens, NY, lived a long and rich life filled with love, kindness, and wisdom. She passed peacefully in her home with her family by her side. She was a devoted teacher, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend to many. Jeanne’s love for her family knew no bounds, and her caring nature touched everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a testament to grace, strength, and devotion to her three daughters—Kim, Cindy, and Allison.

Allison, born on August 24, 1961 in Massapequa Park, NY, was a gentle, radiating soul with a heart full of love. She faced the world with a unique perspective, but that never stopped her from living a life full of joy, laughter, gratitude, and connection. She loved her family, as well as her “chosen family” at Community Mainstreaming where she spent her last 37 years. It was evident to us that they truly loved her in return. She always looked forward to spending her days at the workshop, interacting with staff and friends, all of whom she developed strong relationships. Her innocence, warmth, and deep affection for those around her were a light to all who knew her. Allison passed peacefully with her family by her side, three weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.

Their passing so close together is a testament to their deep connection—a true reflection of the life they shared. While we grieve the loss of these remarkable women, we take comfort in knowing that Jeanne and Allison are now together (with their husband/father Paul) in eternal peace.

Jeanne and Allison leave behind immediate family that include Kim and Doug Blodgett, Cindy and Dan Allard, Kristin and Tom Wilson (Grace and Rosa), Cory and Julie Blodgett, Whitney and Ben Rogers (Oliver, Quincy, and Finlay), Molly and Kallen Pitts (Rylynn and Remy), and Remsen and Emily Allard.

Jeanne’s heart reached far beyond her own children. She was the glue that kept her extended family together. She had a unique gift for fostering closeness among her many nieces and nephews and their families, always nurturing connections with love and care. That love and unity was appreciated by all.

Everyone who knew Jeanne and Allison will continue to cherish the memories of their loving spirits. Their lights will continue to shine on us in the days ahead. We will always feel their presence—guiding, comforting, and reminding us of the love they shared with everyone they touched.
